Accounts Payable/Receivable Assistant

A leader in the construction/building industry is seeking a focused and driven team player to fill the role of Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable Assistant.

Duties and Responsibilities

Perform Basic Accounting Duties including:

  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable postings
  • Preparing bank reconciliations and deposits
  • Processing payments
  • Creating financial reports
  • Assisting with the budget planning
  • Preparing and submitting tax forms
  • Maintaining financial databases and spreadsheets
  • Assist with year-end clerical work

Assist with answering phones, greeting clients, making appointments, filing paperwork, performing data entry and word processing.

Qualifications and Job Requirements

  • Minimum completion of an Accounting Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 or more years of accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping practices
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, Simply/AccPac or any other accounting program
  • Experience with office equipment such as copiers and scanners
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • An analytical mind; comfortable with numbers; high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Friendly and outgoing team player

  • Work with the Sales Team to produce an estimate from preliminary plans to secure a build
  • Establish & maintain a database of current construction costs
  • Perform a comprehensive analysis of budgets versus costs on an ongoing basis


  • Attend pre-construction meetings with the homeowner to define spec
  • Produce accurate materials take-offs for pricing
  • Request & gather quotes from trades & suppliers based on homeowner specifications
  • Assemble budgets
  • Review budgets with the Construction Team
  • Present budget to the client


  • Manage design changes prior to building permit
  • Responsible to gather necessary engineering  & documentation required for permit submission
  • Submit, track & receive building permit
  • Initiate & monitor COC insurance

Construction Skills & Qualifications

  • Analytical, proficient in time management & prioritizing tasks
  • Good communication skills both written & verbal
  • Strong computer skills
  • 3–5 years of construction experience
  • Estimating & quantity take offs

Construction Manager

Site Related Responsibilities

  • Reports to and is accountable to Rykon’s Project Manager
  • Responsible for the overall macro management of construction on specified site or sites
  • Work as a team with the Project Coordinator.
  • Produce schedules for review by Project Manager prior to commencement of construction
  • Set schedules with copies to the office
    • Foundation
    • To Lock-up
    • Drywall
    • Completion
  • Weekly status report with ongoing communication to management
  • Timely execution of schedules which are tied to the contract completion dates
  • Scheduling and management of the day to day site operations with all trades suppliers and inspections
  • Provide quantity take offs for all required aspects of the homes
  • Ordering all materials needed to construct the homes using the purchase order system
  • Overseeing all of the safety related issues on site ie; first aid attendant, safety meetings, guard rails, fall protection and all other possible day to day safety issues
  • Keep a clean and well organized site
  • Maintain a high level of quality control
  • Promote positive client, trade / RCM relations
  • Crisis management / trouble shooting / problem solving
  • Responsible for all warranty work related to each of the homes


  • Monthly approval of invoices and work in place on site for each home
  • Approval of time sheets and labour break down
  • Receive and follow for all Colour and Finish
  • Post the Colour and Finish and all Change Orders in home
  • Review trades on a monthly basis
  • Initiate applications for Gas and Electrical service
  • Involved in trade selection
  • Initiate COC insurance
  • Obtain Occupancy Permit well in advance of closing and deliver to PM
  • Responsible for all take-offs, labour & carpentry required for budget assembly
  • Attend client meeting with PC when required
  • Attend weekly construction meeting with Rykon’s Team
